This October, I am excited to present my solo exhibition Soil and Flowers in Taipei, from October 11 to October 26, 2025. The exhibition will showcase works created during my artist residencies earlier this year in Takeo, Saga, Japan (spring) and Gimhae, Korea (summer).
Residencies have always been a special part of my artistic journey, offering me the chance to immerse myself in new cultures, materials, and histories. In Takeo, I was inspired by the natural surroundings and the traditional ceramic practices of the region. In Gimhae, I experimented with local clay and drew inspiration from wildflowers often seen around the town, integrating them into larger vessels and new forms. These works reflect both the soil of the places I lived and the fleeting beauty of everyday encounters.

The title Soil and Flowers embodies this connection between earth and life. Clay, as soil, grounds my practice— it is both material and memory. Flowers, on the other hand, remind me of the spontaneous, ephemeral, and poetic aspects of creating. Together, they symbolize the dialogue between permanence and transience, tradition and personal expression.
I hope this exhibition offers a glimpse into how residency experiences can shape not only the works themselves but also the way I think about clay as a medium of cultural exchange and daily life.
